Brave Warrior

In just five days we officially declare a time to honor all those who have served our great country. Veteran's Day is meaningful to many as they reflect back on those who have given great sacrifice in return for the blanket of freedom that surrounds us.

Today, as I walked the halls of Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) it was amazing to me how many of these men were smiling and high spirited despite their peril condition. I hope and pray that their sacrifices continues to sustain our freedom and our way of life.

The reason for the visit was to check on the status of one of our very own. Daniel was on a security patrol in Iraq when his convoy had to make a deviation off of the hardball and immediately ran over a buried landmine with his HUMVEE. Daniel has quite the story to tell of the events that followed. As he recalled the incident he seemed stronger and more focused than one would imagine after suffering from such a traumatic experience. His determination to return to his comrades is his only goal as he attends the immediate need of recovery. He appeared very healthy and spoke highly of the level of treatment he had received both State-side and in Germany. He did mention that Iraq is extremely HOT and that prior to the incident he had lost weight from just being in the environment. Daniel is expected to have a full recovery and our thoughts and prayers will follow him as he continues his quest.

Ron, Hats off to you for dropping everything on Monday and flying to S.A. to see Daniel!!! What a day... you can't imagine the load you took off of Uncle Mike & Aunt Danilee and all the family by your actual visit and posting a picture of our very own wounded. How wonderful to see him and to verify that his condition was as you mentioned... Praise God for his hand of protection on Daniel and also for his continued healing. We have such an exceptional military and the heart of 'The Soldier' to desire to go back out on the field in the face of all adversity to defend the freedom of countless others.Thank God for these who would love our country to the death...Thank God for not taking another of our beloved form us .
