Swimming and Gingerbread Men

Monday's have been dubbed by me as "indoor swimming day". I'm really trying to stick with my goal of keeping them swimming year round. Even in December!! For the past 3 Monday evenings (after dinner) we have gone up to the Flower Mound activity center. Lincoln jumps off the diving board 25 times and goes down the slide 25 times.... Lawson swims in the pool with his life vest on... And I just get to sit out and watch them.... We are usually the only ones there so they have their own personal 2 lifeguards... Then I bring their PJ's, so they can shower there and put them on.... The pool closes at 8pm, so we return home tired, showered and ready for bed at 8:30. Love it.

Today I took them to the Hilton Grapevine Hotel to swim all morning... Then we came home for lunch and we baked and decorated Gingerbread Men cookies. They aren't just for Christmas are they???
Lincoln is our little chef who always wants to be cooking/baking..... and he is good!!

so now they are off to nap time, and I need to clean up this mess and start on dinner!!

Visit from Friend

On Wednesday, Lincoln's friend Taylor came over for the day. We picked her up from school,
went to Peter Piper Pizza for lunch, then came home and played ALL DAY LONG....
I think they went down the slide in their "train" about 50 times!!

Hide and Seek

This is Lawson's new hide and seek place... He can get under the couch but can't get out. Here he is stuck. Again.

Lincoln's 1st Goal

Lincoln had his 3rd Soccer game tonight, and he made his 1st goal. He was SO proud of himself.... You can see his goal in the last picture. He's the one with his hands up in the air...
I need to learn how to take action soccer pictures... I think I need a professional camera to get good shots... But here are a few of tonights game.

Why you should marry a good speller....

The Class

Lincoln's teacher emailed us this picture today. Lincoln is 2nd on right with the green shirt. Notice that in his class there are only 2 girls and 9 boys!! Lucky Girls!! I like this b/c up to this point it seems like Lincoln is one of the only boys around a bunch of girls.... The only bad thing is that he is coming home with all these "boy things" he is learning from school....

Note From Teacher

Here is a note from Lincoln's teacher. This is what he is learning from his twice a week preschool. He loves school!!!

Hello everyone!

Just thought I’d take some time and update you on our year so far…It has been a WONDERFUL experience! We are enjoying the children so much…they all have fabulous little personalities and have acclimated very well to our daily routine. Ask them what their “job” was for the day, everyone has a job they’re assigned. They have all enjoyed their roles and take them very seriously. Please, please look in your child’s Orange folder each day after class. There is always work we’ve done in class and any forms of communication from Mrs. Carolyn & Mrs. Kathy or Valley Creek MDO administration or church itself.

Mrs. Carolyn has introduced the “Quiet Water, Still Water” game to our kiddos. They love playing this while we’re waiting in line. They are looking for the quietest person to be the next one who may choose and so on…We have learned to spell RED and are learning BLUE. Ask your child to sing the R-E-D & B-L-U-E song for you. Circle is our shape for September. We are learning our right hand from left while reciting the pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag and the pledge to the Bible. We’ve learned about Creation, Adam & Eve, Noah & the Great Flood, Isaac & his bride. At lunch, we reinforce our need to thank our Heavenly Father for our food, and reinforce our manners (taking turns speaking, raising our hands to ask for assistance, please & thank you, etc.) The kids love it when we tell them how wonderful it was that they used their nice manners! We’ve started learning vowels; Ii, Uu, Ee, and will have completed all Aa & Oo and start consonants after that. We are following the Abeka curriculum. We will send home the letter bags home starting with Tt the second week in October and every week thereafter until we finish the alphabet. We are learning to write Capital and Lower Case letters. (Your children are learning this concept.) We have a weekly journal that we’re using to reinforce our phonic and writing skills. The children have enjoyed our Math games and are very eager to have us reward them with stickers or smiley faces on their worksheets. I am impressed with their math skills and they all love coming up to “write” letters & numbers on the whiteboard! Mrs. Carolyn took us all on a Scavenger Hunt around the preschool & church where we learned that you get “Abitized” when you go into the baptismal. Everyone is enjoying Creative Music & Movement with Mrs. Holly. We have some budding superstars in our future! I am bringing in a pretend microphone tomorrow for dramatic play…I can’t wait to enjoy the concerts! We started Spanish and I’m am happy to say that Dora the Explorer has primed some of our kiddos with basic counting & color knowledge! Everyone loved getting a chance to “speak Spanish” on the microphone last Thursday. This is very basic stuff; colors, shapes, numbers, family members, greetings & parts of the anatomy (head, eyes, mouth, nose, legs, etc.) Have them “teach” you the word or phrases they know. If you need translations, email or call me.

Feel free to stop by and visit. Just give us heads up! We might even have you read the class a story. I have taken a lot of photos but need to download them to my pc. When I do, I will share them with you! I know I am speaking for Mrs. Carolyn when I say we love your kids and we are blessed to have them with us this year!

See you tomorrow!

The Dinosaurs

Today we headed out to McKinney to the Heard Museum to see their visiting Dinosaur exhibit. We met some of our friends from church who also have 2 boys...It was awesome, the boys loved it. Even though we got lost for TWO hours on the nature trails... Long story.... If you live in the area, you seriously should go check it out!!! These life size dinosaurs are placed along a nature trail... They look very realistic: they move and make sounds and one of them even blows out water at you....

Auntie Ya Ya's Blog....Hmmmm

I found this post over at my SIL's blog...
LOL
(I always call her back!!!)

This was a good laugh.....for all that know my brother Ron...you all know that he is hard to contact via phone....and he rand cynthia rarely call back.....since cynthia and him are busy all the time... getting ahold of them is like waiting to talk to a victoria secret customer sales representative to discuss your a credit card bill....and being transfered to china to another automated service....So, today.....when I called Ron and he actually answered....this is what I hear "hey ray, I'm gonna call you back in FIVE minutes....Do you think you can actually pick up your phone this time....Im like...LOL....Ron is saying this to me! funny, Ron...really funny...lol ;)

Ike Family Update

Mom and Herb decided to evacuate today. I feel so much better about that decision. They are on the way with the 2 cats to stay with Jen. Not sure on the traffic status.

Sue, Matthew and Lauren also decided that since they were going to be directly hit.... to get out of dodge. They are also on the way to SA to stay with Jen. They have the 3 dogs with them. Unfortunately since Steve is a Galveston police officer, he has to stay ON THE ISLAND and can't leave. All the police officers will be boarded up at the San Luis a nice hotel there. So lets all keep Steve in our prayers... they are already suffering from the water surges, etc...

Tom, Court, and Bristol are in SA also, staying with Courtney's parents.

And us here in the Big D.... Apparently we will experience some of the hurricane with high winds, flooding, tornado's, etc.... Soooooo... I went out and stocked up today.... just in case.

Nanny

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANNY!!!!
(Rons mom, my MIL, and the boys Nanny...)
We are soooo Blessed to have you in our lives.

Hurricane Ike Update

As I said before, most of my family lives right where Ike is headed.

Tom (my brother), Courtney, and Bristol boarded up there windows and evacuated to San Antonio.

Sue (my sister), Steve, Matthew and Lauren boarded up their house and will ride out the storm at home... unless they decide to evacuate in the next day.... Click here to check out the boarded house: http://ssmlwilson.blogspot.com/

My mom and Herb are staying at the apartment, even though they have been evacuated. They live in Webster. She stocked up with candles, meds, food and water. All stores are already closed. They have an upstairs neighbor who is staying too, and has been very helpful.

TAKE A HIKE IKE

The Flag

In rememberance of 911. I'm speechless. Those of you touched personally by the attacks, will be in our prayers today.

Second

The boys today on the way to Lincoln's 2nd day of preschool. He loves it. Lawson asked about 6 times today where Lincoln was... He missed him. Lawson and I got a lot done though, including meeting Cara Tori and Ryan at Central Market to play... Here are Lawson and Ryan goofing around...

Two's

We are experiences the terrible two's over here... I'll spare you the details... But one thing he loves to do right now is absolutely destroy his room....When he is supposed to be in there taking a nap...
And this picture doesn't even do the mess justice... He took and threw every single book off his bookshelf, emptied out every. single. toy. he had... Slid all the furniture around... the crib was in the middle of the room... and most everything on the walls was taken off and thrown and broken.... We used some creative discipline tonight, and I have a feeling he will be keeping his room muuuuch cleaner nowadays....

Lost and Found

Here is the before during and after of our cookie experience this week.

It was Lincoln's idea to make cookies for the lady who returned our dog, Lucky.

Lucky was lost for about 5 hours... She was found at the pond by our house, and followed a lady home for 4 blocks... Anyway, she didn't have her tags on b/c we just bought a new collar and hadn't transferred them to her yet... So for awhile we thought we would never be able to find Lucky. We had to do the whole posting signs thing... we reported her missing to the Humane Society and just 15 minutes later someone called the Humane Society to report a found dog... So we had a happy ending to our doggie drama. It was an eventful day for us.

We brought her home, put her tags on, and made some Cowboy Cookies!!
