Backwards and Upside Down

Is it normal for a 2 year old (boy) to slide down backwards and upside down? He does come to a haulting stop

at the bottom before he lands on his head.....

The FM Bro's

Those of you that have had the pleasure of spending any amount of time with the FM Boys, know that they are quite different. It's amazing that 2 brothers can have such different personalities. Both Great, but different none the less. Fortunately, they are still able to play well together, and that just keeps getting better and better as they get older. They have been playing a lot due to being stuck inside since the heat. I'm like no more computer, no more TV, you guys go in your rooms and play.... I put them in their separate rooms and they end up in one together. Today, they were playing some kind of mystery treasure hunt: Lincoln had a map and they were looking for this hidden treasure under moms blankets, in dads closet, outside... they ended up digging a hole in the front yard (shhh don't tell Daddy) bc that is where the map told them the treasure was. Great imaginations.... I took this picture when they were playing TOGETHER on the computer which is a rare occasion: they usually argue on whose turn it is and I have to end up setting timers....Anyway, when I saw this picture I liked it, but just saw both of their different personalities shining through...

Are you smarter than a 4 year old?

I'm going to start doing a version of my old Sunday Six questions, and it will be called "Are you smarter than a 4 year old", and I will randomly post these. Feel free to copy and paste and have your child, or husband, or whatever, answer them:

Today's theme is HEAT...

1. What does "Hot" mean?
Lincoln: Something that you can't touch because it will burn you.
Lawson: Hot

2. How hot is it today?
Lincoln: Like 70 degree's (I wish)
Lawson: Hot outside. Sun.

3. Do you like it better hot or cold outside, why?
Lincoln: Cold. Because if it's hot then you need sunglasses and I don't really love that.
Lawson: Cold!! I like the snow!

4. What kinds of things do you do when it's hot outside?
Lincoln: Drink lemonade, snow cones, play inside, play computer, thats what I do.
Lawson: Go swimming... go under water.

5. What makes it Hot outside?
Lincoln: The sun. It shines down. God.
Lawson: I don't know... The Sun!

Still Learning

Something I learned today:
Chick Fil A has a great chicken salad sandwich.

Heat Wave

We are in one of those Texas Heat Waves. It will be 107 throughout the week. Just a typical Texas summer. We will be doing a lot of indoor a/c activities this week. Both boys will be in Flight School Vacation Bible School all week in the evenings. Heading out in a bit for Lincolns (indoor) swim lessons.

104 and Loving It

It's a stinking 104 degree's out right here right now. And it will be in the 100's for another 10 week strech. I'm packing up the boys and heading for the pool, right here right now.

We are making a Mexican Shrimp Ceviche tonight, yum...a nice chilled treat for the Texas heat.

Random

Two random but cute pics for you:

Jen and Lincoln swinging during her visit last week...

Don't Mess With Them

Lawson and Cousin Bristol: Watch Out!!!

Cucumber Water and Coffee Ice Cubes

I guess Cucumber water is a pretty popular thing. I got this idea from another blog, and I love it. Just chop a few cucumber pieces and put it in your bottled water for a cheap healthy refreshing summer drink. I like to add a bit of strawberries. Other idea's to add were a leaf of mint, lemon, lime, get creative. The cucumber chunks can be reused. Make it in advance and let it sit in the fridge for awhile for more cucumber taste....

Another idea I borrowed from a blog that we like is: don't throw away good coffee leftovers. Put the coffee in ice cube trays, and use later when making iced coffee drinks. Ron and I make a lot of iced coffee drinks on the weekend, so now we have "coffee cubes" to use. Come visit and I will make you an iced coffee drink!!

Out

Outta Here. Don't check back for new posts until Monday!!
By the way, I had a new babysitter today for a couple of hours. When I got home she had unloaded the whole dishwasher. WOW, never had a babysitter do anything like that... She's a keeper!!! And she and Lincoln "love" each other.... She was his summer school teachers daughter who was the teacher aide. Lincoln talked about her all the time, and on the last day she sent him home with a note that she wanted to babysit him.... She's 19 and drives..... this is good news.

Visit to Taylors

Last week, Lincoln was invited to spend an afternoon over at his friend, Taylor's, house. He had lunch with her, went swimming with Taylor and her Dad, played, and watched a movie. Apparently he had a blast. Taylor's mom, Gina, sent me this picture of the two... She said he had fun playing with the dogs... Next year they will be going to different schools, so we want to keep getting them together for playdates. And they will be in the same Sunday school class at church.

Cool Kids Websites

For you with kid's who love computers, like mine.
Click right HERE for lots of cool kids websites.
There is also this new website called www.totlol.com
It's like YouTube for the Toddlers
Check it out, it will be worth your time, lol....

BathTub Paints

While Lincoln was at Vacation Bible School this morning, I made some bath paints for Lawson to play with.

I gave him one of Daddy's paintbrushes, and he had a blast. He said he was painting the bath like Daddy painted the fence....

Shhhhh... Don't tell Ron we did this. One of his pet peeves is anything to do with kids, paints and baths all together. BUT, these paints had a much easier cleanup than the store bought ones. Ron will never know, we cleaned up every last drop!!

In every cupcake holder put:

  1. 1 TBSP Cornstarch
  2. 2 TBSP Baby Liquid Soap
  3. 4 drops of food coloring

Date Night

Date Night Tonight
Fun Fun Fun
I'm in Love with my Husband

The Apple Doesn't Fall Too Far From the Tree

Lawson went to a Home Depot Kids Camp this morning. He made this birdhouse. He is very proud of it, and is carrying it around and he won't take off his work apron. He LOVES working with wood, hammering in nails, and just making things. He really takes after Daddy....
On the other hand, right now Lincoln and Daddy are at Studio Movie Grill (one of those theatres that is also a restaurant) watching the new movie Wall-E. Lincoln has been waiting about 3 months for this movie to come out. He is a little bit "obsessed with Wall-E" which is a Disney movie about robots. The 1st words out of his mouth when he woke up today was, "Today is my LUCKY day... I get to see Wall-E today". That was one excited little boy. He is a little movie buff.... He will be talking about this movie for weeks after he see's it today. He will remember every single part.
Lincoln and Lawson are doing that summer reading program through the library, where they read for 20 minutes a day, and after 7 days, they get to turn in the log for a prize. Well, this weeks prize was passes for a free movie at the Movie Grill.... We had never been there, so I sent Ron and him there today. Matinee before noon is only $5.00 for adults. So, for the two of them to see a movie today was a total of $5. We'll see how much they spend on the lunch, popcorn, etc...
We hope to go up to the FM pool for swimming today after naps.

Good Luck Nathan

Our Cousin Nate had been staying with us for the past two months
He left this week, to return to Florida in order to leave for the Navy.
He will be stationed in Great Lakes, Illinois. Good Luck Nathan!!
The boys already miss you.

No Phone Story

Apparantly there have been some bets on the reason my phone is broken.
No funny story on the broken phone. It's just it's time to go bye bye. That thing has gone through ALOT in the past 1.5 yr. Considering that I share it with a 2yr old and a 4yr old. I couldn't count the times it's been dropped on the floor, thrown, chewed on, stepped on, ran over, etc, etc... Needless to say, I have to take some responsibility for it not working. When I took it in, they said the sensor said it was submerged in water. I'm sure it was.
So, I got my new phone in the mail today, off ebay, and hope to get it activated in the next 24 hrs. It only has to last me (us) 6months when I will be eligible for a free phone from Verizon. Then I will put it back on ebay for sale... Or give it to Nanny if she still needs it.

Omelet Anyone??

This is how my day is going. Enough Said.
