Lawson Update

Finally put a cute picture in this cute frame for Lawson's room.
Cousins Bristol and Lawson....

Most of you know about Lawson's spitting up/vomiting problem. In fact, a majority of you have been initiated by it. I think Aunt Jen has gotten it the worse. She came to stay for a few days and had used up all her clothes from having to change so much.... I remember we all took a walk to the park, and by the time we came home, Lawsons, Jen's, and my clothes were all 3 completely soaked with spit up. Of course we didn't have a change of clothes with us. I know that he got just about everyone on our trip to NY, especially Nanny and Ray Ray. Out of friends, I think Darla got it the worse out at her pool: covering just about every part of her body: Sorry!!
HOWEVER, the GOOD news is that this is getting A LOT better. In fact, he only spits up every couple of days now, compared to about 10 times between each feeding. So, now everyone can hold Lawson without the fear of what may come.....

PS: Great day for us all today, including Ron. Lincoln did great at gymnastics. Meanwhile Lawson played with 2 other babies who had older siblings in Lincoln's class. All 3 babies are just weeks apart in age, so it's nice that they can play together each week while the class is going on. Afterwords, we met Debbie T and her 2 yr old son, and Darla and Emily at our favorite place, Chuck E Cheese. I managed to wear them both out after almost 3 hours of running around there. There is even a place for Lawson to play/climb. While the boys took a long nap, I got ton's of things done around the house. Then right as I was getting ready to make dinner, Ron called and told me that we would all go out to dinner. Boys did great at the restaurant.... Came home swung outside, Lincoln drove around in the motorized car that UNCLE TOM gave him (he is really enjoying that right now!!), came inside for both to take a bath then bedtime. Great day!!
Plan on running errands in the am tomorrow and going to the gym in the afternoon. This weekend is my spa get away.

Wednesday, September 27

Wednesday, again, already

Lincoln decided to sit in the drawer this morning to read his books... He was nice and cozy in there. He even got to eat his breakfast there, lucky boy....
He really has been quite the conversationalist lately, it's very entertaining. I love this age!!

I love this age, too!!

Lawson digging into the toys in the armoire.

Wow, this week has just flown by, it seem's as if Wednesday was just here. We had an incredible day, just perfect. Had bible study this morning, then grabbed a bite to eat with Darla and her sister. Went to see the financial advisor about the boy's college funds. Tomorrow is gymnastics.

January 2006

This was an ordinary day of life at home when Lawson came home from the hospital. He LOVED being in front of the fireplace. It was his favorite spot to be. It was so nice to go lay down in front of the fire and just play with both of the boys. Remember, this is when Ron was already working in Dallas and we were still in Houston. (I don't remember Lincoln's hair being so short...)

This is Lawson at just one week old. I always thought he was so incredibly cute. And he even got cuter!!

Just home from the hospital. He looks so alert already. Click on the picture for a larger view.

This picture is taken at home when I was on the way to the hospital to have Lawson. The roses were for my 3rd year anniversary, which was January 4th (lawson born on the 6th)

For those of you that didn't get to see Lawson as a newborn, or that don't remember, here are a few old pictures.
He was 7 pounds 15 oz (Lincoln was 8 pounds 10 oz), but he also came 2 weeks early and Lincoln came over a week late. They were the same length. They really looked totally different as babies.

Pink Convertible

Did anyone else hear about the 3 year old that purchased a pink convertible?? This is TOTALLY something Lincoln is capable of doing. I guess we need to monitor him surfing the web.
Check out this story. LOL

Three-year-old buys pink convertible on eBay
Tue Sep 26, 8:50 AM ET
Jack Neal briefly became the proud owner of a pink convertible car after he managed to buy it for 9,000 pounds ($17,000) on the Internet despite being only three years old.
Jack's mother told the BBC she had left her password for the eBay auction site in her computer and her son used the "buy it now" option to complete the purchase.
"Jack's a whiz on the PC and just pressed all the right buttons," Rachel Neal said.
The seller of the second-hand car, a dealer from Worcestershire, central England, was amused by the bid and agreed not to force the sale through.
"Luckily he saw the funny side and said he would re-advertise," Neal said.

Welcome Back Lawson

Yeah!! My old Lawson is back!! After several weeks of just not being himself due to different illnesses and medication, today he was back to his adorable, cute, cuddly, happy, content old self. It's great to see him feeling better.

Lincoln took a great nap today (didn't nap the past 2 days), and woke up in an incredibly great mood. It sure is nice to have to happy children at once.... I love this!!!

Have to focus the rest of the night completing my homework for tomorrow's bible study....

Good Night!!

A Day at the Mall

A day at the mall just isn't the same as it was 2 3/4 years ago. It's still fun, but just not the same!! We spent the day at Grapevine Mills Mall, and this is a summary of what we did:

1. Returned some shirts, wrong size. (Lincoln spilled his entire container of fruit Cheerio's on the floor under the clothes rack, so I had to get under the clothes rack and pick up each and every one of those Cheerio's b/c I didn't want to be one of those moms that doesn't clean up after the kids in public)

2. Bought Lincoln some shorts for gymnastics and jeans at Children's Place (my favorite kid's store). Got a 10.00 off coupon in the mail. They just built a huge new one at this mall, and it's an outlet. AND they have a "kids play area" in the center of the store. Perfect for Lincoln to play in while I shop and I can see him from throughout the store. Wish more kids stores had things like this!!

3. Had to find a bathroom for Lincoln twice. Both times we were NOT close to one. It's surprising how few bathrooms' there are at malls. He made it though, luckily. You should have seen us running through the mall......

4. Lawson diaper needed changing twice, but conveniently, not at the same time we were already in the bathroom!

5. Bought Lincoln a CD from the bible outlet. He wanted the Zacheous song.... At the bible outlet the children's CD's are on sale for 2.99 which is excellent!! We are listening to it right now. Lincoln is supposed to be napping, but I still hear him playing...

6. Walked by Mastercuts, and decided to stop in so Lincoln could get his haircut. Kept the curls, just got it trimmed up a bit. He did great. Started getting some hives on his face during the haircut, we can't figure out the correlation with him getting these mysterious hives.

7. Spent 45 minutes at a kiosk in the center looking at the hermit crabs, baby mice, and baby turtles. Lincoln thought this was the coolest!! I was thinking maybe he was ready for a pet hamster....We'll talk to daddy about that.

8. Lincoln saw a bike he said he wanted to ask Santa for.

9. Threw pennies in to the crocodiles at Rainforest Cafe. Luckily he didn't jump in the water (he has in the past!!)

10. Went to the dollar store and picked up some children's scissors (he has been SO interested in ours, thought I'd get him those plastic one's), stickers, coloring books.

11. Rode the merry go round, FUN!! Lawson even enjoyed this...

12. Shared one piece of pizza between the 3 of us. Lawson got to eat some of the crust...

13. That's about it, now we are at home completely exhausted!!

A Special Thank You

Thank you to my LOVING HUSBAND for:
1. Setting up my palm pilot tonight, it took a long time to install the software. I know you had more fun things that you would rather be doing.
2. Cleaning the spilt milk out of my car yesterday, when milk was spilled on two occasions on the same day, long story.
3. For the birthday presents.
4. Washing the dishes tonight.
5. Cleaning up the poop yesterday, long story also.
6. Making the bed this morning.
7. Always taking out the trash on trash day, and always doing all the yardwork.
8. Washing my Surburban.
9. Cutting up my melon for MOPS this morning.

Sitting Bristol

Bristol (my niece) started sitting up during their visit here last week. Doesn't she look like such a big girl now???
Courtney sent out this picture today taken at their home....

Playing

The boys sure love to play... We are working on sharing toys w/o getting upset!!

Lawson has learned that he likes to hug, so it has been nice for him to give mommy and daddy hugs. I don't think Lincoln was giving hugs at that age, so it's nice!!

On Sunday, when I dropped Lawson off at the nursery at church, they were short on help. So, I volunteered to stay and help with the babies. There were 12 babies, with one hired help, myself and another mom volunteering, and two youth. I really enjoyed working with the other babies, and also watching what Lawson does in there. It's neat watching him interact with the others. And he didn't mind me holding the other babies. I had to put 2 crying babies to sleep, and he was fine with that. They asked if I'd like to be a once a month volunteer, and I think I would like that. I'd like to volunteer one day in Lincoln's class so I can see how he interacts and what kinds of things he learns in there. He's always talking about the different bible stories he learns. His favorite is Zacheous, and he always tells us the story and sings the song.

20/20

Did anyone see the 20/20 on Friday night about "names"?? I'll tell you about it later...

Very. Good. Birthday

I don't really like these pictures, but here are some shots Ron took on my birthday.

Yes, turning 36 this year wasn't so bad after all. It add's a whole new meaning to birthday's when you have kids. You have to really pretend that you enjoy turning older, for their sake!! Lincoln is really into people's birthdays lately, so that was fun. He knows that his birthday is "next" and that it is in "December" and that he will be "3".
This year, on my birthday, I was able to sleep in just a bit. Ron made me breakfast, yummy. Then he took Lincoln out for some errands and I spent some quality time with Lawson. Then Ron and Lincoln brought me home a birthday lunch from Anemies, a nice Mexican Restaurant here. After lunch, we had my "birthday party", with angel food cake, strawberries, and presents!! Ron got me five new North Shore shirts, they will be very comfortable, and Lincoln helped him pick them out. I also got some goodies from Rocky Mountain chocolate factory, a candy apple and dark chocolate bar. Of course, I also got my spa day which will take place next week.
In the afternoon of my birthday, I was baptized at our church with Ron, Lincoln, and Lawson as my witnesses!! That was something special for me to do on my birthday!! I'll never forget that!!
Then, we dropped the kids off at Adventure Kids while we went next door to eat dinner at an Italian restaurant, it was very good.
So, as you can see I had a great day. Too bad today, Sunday, nothing seemed to be going right!!

Friday, September 22

aunt jen

Lincoln checked out a book at the library, and much to his surprise that there was a character named Aunt Jen!!

Congrats

Congrats to Jen for finally getting her official school psychologist license. It's been a long journey. The world will now be a better place.

Another Family Pix

OK, I like this one a little better, taken on Ron's camera....

Today is Friday, I had to go to the DPS office to get my driver's license renewed before it expired tomorrow. This was my second trip, I went this week but all the computers were down. So, today I dropped Lincoln off at Adventure Kids for an hour while Lawson and I went to stand in the hour long line. It's easy to take just one of them to something like that. Either one, but just one is a lot less stressful. Decided to take the one that is still somewhat constrained in his stroller....
Tomorrow, on my birthday, I will be baptized, as an adult. I was baptized as an infant, and now I will be baptized at my church as an adult. I've been wanting to do this for the past 2 years, and am finally taking the big step!!

Revelations

I started my Community Bible Study today. This is going to be an intense 30 week study on Revelations. Can you believe that there are 350 women taking this study? We meet every Wednesday from 9:30-11:30. We break down into smaller groups of 15 for part of the study. I'm really looking forward to being a part of this. I'll let you know how it goes!!

Hi Tracy

2005, one year ago.... On Thomas' couch...

2004

2004, Lincoln was about 8 months.

This picture was taken right after we moved to Houston. They came to visit. The boys had matching PJ's!! Lincoln was 3 months, Thomas 8 months.

Wanted to say hello to a good friend, Tracy, who has been keeping up with us through our blog. Tracy and I used to work together at the children's home. We were pregnant at the same time, and she had Thomas 5 months before I had Lincoln. So, she really helped me along with a lot of things, since she had just gotten through with whatever I was dealing with at the time. After we moved to Houston, we regularly were able to get the boys together. Every time we go to San Antonio, we stop in for a "play date", and she came to Houston several times to visit. Thomas and Lincoln will always be buddies.... Tracy, thanks for calling me today. It was GREAT talking to you, and can't wait to get together again....
Pictures posted are in reverse order of them growing up.....

The Family

Our whole family this weekend after Lawson's dedication. Couldn't seem to get a good family shot, because one of them was always fussy! This is the best we got. There is an identical one to this except Lincoln is picking his nose!! Thought I'd spare him the embarrassment.

Hang Out

Mommy and the boys at one of favorite hang outs, Chuck E Cheese. Lawson is even old enough now where he enjoys riding the animals and crawling on the infant playground.

Grapefest

We went to the Grapevine, Grapefest a couple of weekends ago. Lincoln was in this little children's skit, something about a farm... He was really cute!!

Here he got to feed the monkey puppet a banana. He still talks about it. He got a medal to wear around his neck after being in this skit, and if you ask him now how he earned the medal, he says "because I fed the monkey the banana".

Can you see Lincoln on the far right??

Ring Ring

Lincoln had an entire imaginary conversation today with cousin, Lauren (La La) on his play phone. He even asked her to talk to her daddy, Steve. He asked Steve if he was sick and had to go to the doctor.....

He really misses everyone already. On Saturday, Lincoln was able to go to Six Flags Theme Park with The Wilson's. He had a blast, he rode on a roller coaster, ferris wheel, log water ride, etc.... He is full of stories about it. You should have seen him when he got home after being spoiled all day. He walked in with a bugs bunny eared six flags hat, a new six flags t-shirt, holding a bugs bunny stuffed animal in one hand and a HUGE lollipop in the other. Lucky Boy!!! Sue took lot's of cute picture's, I'll post some when I get them from her (hint hint..)

Monday's Sink Bath

This was pretty funny. What started out as Lawson taking a sink bath to clean up after a messy lunch.....

Turned into this!! A 1 hour long double sink bath!!

They were having SO much fun, I let them stay in and play for a long time.....

Silly Boys!!

Another Recipe

To all my family who were over for dinner on Saturday night. Let me know if you need my recipe for "lasagna soup".
LOL, sorry!!

My Spa Day

I am so excited I have to tell someone. For my birthday this month, Ron is sending me to a local spa and resort on the lake. I will go with a friend who lives here also. We will spend about 24 hours there. I will be getting a package with a facial, massage, and hair treatment. And I am going to SLEEP in for the 1st time in 2 3/4 years. I am SO excited. Of course, I know I am going to miss the boys, that is going to be hard for me, but I know they will enjoy that time with their Daddy. My friend is treating me for my birthday to dinner at the restaurant there, which is famous for steaks. We'll stay up late talking, watching movies, etc.... Did I tell you how excited I am?? This is where I will be going. Mom saw it while she was here b/c we drove past it: www.gaylordtexan.com I have never done anything like this, but this is something I know that I am going to love.
THANKS TO RON, THE WORLD'S GREATEST HUSBAND
PS: I'll let you know how it goes!!

Poppy Seed Chicken

I had some requests for my poppy seed chicken recipe, it's yummy and easy. Try it!! Courtney, you have to make this for Tom, he LOVES it. Call me when you are making it and I'll help you (courtney doesn't cook!)....

Cynthia’s Poppy Seed Chicken Recipe

2 cups (approximately) of chicken chunks (I just boil some chicken breasts and dice them)
2 cans of cream of chicken soup
1 cup sour cream
Ritz cracker crumbs
Poppy seeds
Broccoli (optional)

Line the bottom of a 9 x 13 casserole dish with broccoli florets (can be fresh broccoli or a frozen bag). If you don’t like broccoli, just don’t put it in…. Next put in the diced chicken. Next mix the sour cream and soup in a separate bowl (I added about ½ cup of chicken broth straight out of the pan I boiled the chicken in, this is optional) and pour over the chicken and broccoli. Sprinkle with cracker crumbs and poppy seeds. Optional: drizzle melted butter over the crumbs and seeds.
Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes….
Serve over rice.

This is a great dish to prepare ahead of time, and just pop it in the oven. It’s also a great dish to make and throw into the freezer.

Playtime with Cousins

Bristol and Lawson hanging out on the bean bag in thier matching outfits.... Aren't they so cute??

My brother Tom, and daughter Bristol. Ron and Lawson. Such good daddies!!

All the kiddo's on a wagon ride. They seemed to enjoy that. This was the 1st of many wagon rides with all of them....

Another cute shot of Lawson and Bristol. It's always challenging to get a good shot of 2 babies at once, but I liked this one.....
